About Elya

Shapewear you forget you're wearing.

Elya started with one simple belief: shapewear should disappear — from your outfit and from your mind. No pinching, no lines, no trading comfort for shape. Just a second skin that quietly smooths you out from morning to night.

What we believe

Great shapewear shouldn't be saved for weddings and black-tie nights. We think feeling smooth and supported belongs in your everyday life — under a crisp white shirt, your favorite jeans or a fitted dress — without giving it a second thought.

Who we make it for

For women who want to wear what they love and stay comfortable doing it. For anyone looking for that secret-weapon basic that makes an outfit work. For those who want support — never a squeeze.

How we make it

  • Ultra-thin seamless fabric that shapes without squeezing
  • Laser-cut edges or a sheer mesh finish on our invisible styles
  • Cuts made for all-day wear, not just a couple of hours at night
  • 3 go-with-everything shades: Taupe, Beige and Black — invisible under any outfit
  • 7 sizes, XXS to 2XL, so every body finds its fit

French style, within reach

Shapewear designed in France, with real standards for fabric and finishing — at a price that doesn't put it out of reach. Because feeling good in your body shouldn't be a luxury.

Where and how it's made

Every Elya piece is made in a family-run seamless workshop in Portugal — one of the last places in Europe where premium seamless knitting is still a craft, passed down over three generations.

Why a European workshop

We could have produced for much less in Asia. Instead, we chose to pay 4 to 5 times more to make our shapewear just a two-hour flight from Paris. When something touches your skin 8 hours a day, the quality of the seamless knit, the precision of the laser-cut edges and the quality control aren't things we're willing to cut corners on.

Our workshop in Portugal

The workshop that makes Elya has specialized in seamless since 1987. It's a family business with a team of 24, and it also produces for several premium French and Italian brands. We make small runs — 300 to 800 pieces per style — to keep quality high.

Every piece is checked by hand

Before anything ships, each piece is inspected individually: seam alignment (where there are seams), knit tension, laser-cut edges and gusset closures. About one piece in 50 gets pulled at this stage — so what lands on your doorstep has passed every check.

Where your money goes

We think you deserve to know what's behind the price tag. Here's roughly how the price of an Elya shaping bodysuit breaks down:

  • Raw materials (premium nylon + European spandex): about 22%
  • Manufacturing at our workshop in Portugal: about 28%
  • Quality control + careful packaging: about 5%
  • Shipping, customs and logistics: about 6%
  • Marketing, website and team: about 21%
  • Elya's margin: about 18%

Luxury brands typically take a 40–60% margin. Keeping ours lower is on purpose: we'd rather make quality shapewear available to more women than become a label most people can't afford.

Why we started Elya

The idea came from a frustration we kept running into: you couldn't find shapewear that was comfortable, pretty, well made and reasonably priced — all at once. It was either great but out of reach (around $300 at Wolford), or affordable but poorly made (the $15–$30 options at big-box stores or on SHEIN).

So we set out to make the shapewear we wanted to buy ourselves: comfortable like a second skin (nothing like the girdles of the past), beautiful (refined colors, careful finishing), effective (truly smoothing, not just "shaping" on the label) and fairly priced for a piece that lasts one to two years.

Our first year showed us we weren't the only ones looking. Word of mouth from our customers has become our best marketing — which is why we still answer every email personally.
