The tummy control underwear family focuses on the lower stomach and waist, discreet under jeans and everyday trousers. The shapewear shorts and mid-thigh shorts family extends the control to the thighs — ideal anti-chafing under long dresses and summer outfits.

The shapewear for women collection brings together all our sculpting pieces by the effect you're after (flat stomach, defined waist, shaped hips) rather than by cut. The new tummy control swimsuit family extends shapewear to the beach and the pool, with an Italian chlorine-resistant Lycra that keeps the sculpting effect swim after swim.

Modern shapewear has nothing to do with the rigid girdles of the past. It uses a seamless, circular-knit fabric — with no seam that shows, with progressive compression (firm at the stomach, soft elsewhere). At Elya, our 78% nylon / 22% elastane pieces are made for 14h+ wear with no discomfort or visible lines, unlike the rigid traditional girdles that could only be worn for a few hours.

Which shapewear piece should you start with?

For a first piece of shapewear, we recommend the tummy control knickers or the tummy control bodysuit in moderate control. These two pieces cover 80% of everyday occasions and let you discover the comfort of seamless shapewear without investing in several pieces. For bodies prone to chafing, the shapewear shorts are also an excellent starting point.

Is Elya shapewear made in France?

No, Elya shapewear is made in a family-run workshop in Portugal, 90 km from Porto. We made this choice for two reasons: the Portuguese textile expertise recognised for seamless circular knitting (a technique few workshops master), and the guaranteed European working conditions (social and environmental standards on a par with France).

How do I care for my shapewear so it lasts?

Machine wash at 30°C in a protective bag, or hand wash to maximise its lifespan. No fabric softener (it slackens the elastic fibres). Dry flat in the shade, never in the tumble dryer (heat damages the elastane). With this routine, our pieces keep their elasticity and their sculpting effect for 2 to 3 years of regular wear.
