Why we started Elya.

Clara had tried just about every shapewear brand out there, and none of them made it through the day. So she set out to make the piece she couldn't find — built for real life, made in Portugal, and so comfortable you forget it's there.

What is shapewear?
Shapewear is smoothing underwear — bodysuits, panties, shorts and other shaping pieces — designed to smooth your shape without changing it. Modern shapewear like Elya's uses seamless fabrics that support you gently without leaving marks, unlike the stiff girdles of the past.
How do I choose the right shapewear?
It comes down to three things: the area you want to smooth (tummy, hips, thighs or your whole shape), the level of control you want (moderate for everyday, firm for special occasions) and what you're wearing over it (bodycon dress = invisible laser-cut style, backless dress = backless bodysuit, and so on). Our size chart will help you find your fit.
Is shapewear comfortable enough to wear every day?
Yes — if it's made for all-day wear. Our seamless pieces (78% nylon / 22% spandex) are tested for 14 hours of wear with no discomfort, no visible lines and no chafing. Flat seams and laser-cut edges prevent the red marks that make cheaper shapewear so uncomfortable.
How do I wash my shapewear?
Hand wash in cold water with a gentle detergent. No dryer, no iron, no bleach. Lay flat to dry in the shade to protect the stretch. Cared for this way, our pieces keep their support for 2 to 3 years of regular wear.
What makes Elya different?

Where is Elya shapewear made?
Everything we make comes from Portugal, in a family-run workshop about 55 miles from Porto. We chose Portugal for its textile craftsmanship — known across Europe for seamless knitting — and its European labor standards.
